Today we went for our appointment to divide Noah’s tongue tie.
The consultant was absolutely lovely, and Noah was smiling away at her while she was checking his tongue out. After a really good look, she concluded that in fact a tie isn’t the problem! She said he’s got a funny shaped tongue and a tie so slight it’s not worth cutting. She said if she cut it I might imagine an improvement afterwards but only if I was keen to see one!
So I have decided not to cut it, as she is confident it will cause no speech or eating problems.
So now I am still not sure what’s causing his latch issues. I will be going back to see the breastfeeding counsellor from La Leche League.
Thank you to everyone who commented so encouragingly on my last post about Noah’s difficulty to breastfeed. You may be interested in the NCT campaign if you’d like to see improved tongue tie detection in the UK.
