Gibside in the Autumn

Gibside in the Autumn

We last visited Gibside in August, and we had a fab time then. We visited again to have a look at the trees changing colour.

The first thing we did this time was have a play in the little play area next to the café and then sat outside while we shared a biscuit. It was enormous and only £1!

Then we went for a run in the walled garden, and had a very exciting time finding mole hills! Then a quick peek inside the chapel, after walking very carefully around the edge!

Gibside is beautiful at every time of year, but as the sun was setting and with the trees such a beautiful colour, it was so great to visit again!

What is it about children and mole hills? It has become the obsession of every little boy staying here this autumn to find them and trample them down, I’m happy though as they make such a mess! Thanks for sharing your autumn fun on Country Kids.

I should take James to my work sometime, because the grounds are overrun with molehills! They dig in lines.
A memory I have from my childhood is of a book with a photo of a mole catcher in it; he had hung up his kills. Ugh!
