Bedtime stories – week 12 (2015)

Bedtime stories – week 12 (2015)

We have read only one book at bedtime all week! Astonishingly, James has asked for the same story every night, and if I suggest a different one, he gets upset and asks for the one he wanted…

Pirate Pete’s Potty has been the order of the day!

I’m not sure Pirate Pete needs to hold the toilet paper

To accompany this book, we have the sticker version, which includes a star chart for successful trips to the bathroom.

We’ve had a pretty successful week!

James also asked for a new potty this week, and hasn’t used our Ikea potty as a consequence, but has been very good at using his new car chair style potty. Hurray!

The story is about a boy who decides to wear big boy pants instead of nappies as his baby brother does, and learns to use the potty to do his wees and poos in. The book has a button to press, which makes a cheering noise.

Good job!

I think, coupled with the fact his friend Peter in Chicago uses the toilet, this book is really helping us.

Are there any other books about potty training I should check out?

Weekend Book Club

It’s Monday! What are you reading? is hosted by Sheila of Book Journey. Jen from Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee and Ricki from Unleashing Readers have adapted it to focus on Picture Books to Young Adult Books.

The star chart in the book is all full now, so I’ve just made another with lots of stickers. Here’s hoping he keeps it up this time. He was completely dry until the end of October when someone called him naughty when he had an accident.

That sounds great. We had a great one which I picked up in a charity shop but I can’t remember the name of it now. #weekendbookclub

James first had a bash at 19 months. Then again at 23 months, and he was good to go then until 26 months… Third time lucky for us both ?!

I love this! My daughter loves pirates and any book that makes a noise – might have to get her a copy!
Thanks for linking up with the #WeekendBlogHop!

Pirates are so cool, and the illustrations are great. It’s not really much of a bedtime book because it obviously involves interaction and noise! But that’s what he’s wanted, so that’s what he’s had 🙂
